Retractable injection quills: types and materials

Retractable injection quills

Retractable injection quills from Crystal Industrial Syndicate are devices that are used to inject liquids or gases into a pressurized system, such as a piping system in a chemical plant. They typically consist of a needle or nozzle that can be inserted into the system through a small opening, and a mechanism for retracting the needle or nozzle when it is not in use. The main advantage of retractable injection quills is that they allow the user to inject fluids into the system without having to disconnect or open the system, which can reduce the risk of spills or leaks and make the injection process more efficient.

With retractable injection quills, the quill can be pulled out and put back in without having to depressurize the whole process. This is a very useful feature for people who work with chemicals like sodium hypochlorite, ammonia, and polymer that tend to clog.

Crystal Industrial Syndicate manufactures world-class retractable injection quills. Our retractable injection quills come in 4 main varieties.

STANDARD SERVICE RETRACTABLE
They can be used in a wide variety of chemical treatment applications because they can be made in different sizes and out of different materials.

HEAVY SERVICE RETRACTABLE
For purposes with longer insertion lengths, greater pressures, turbulent flows, and other harsh conditions.

HIGH CORROSION RESISTANT
More options for materials that can stand up to high chloride and other aggressive chemicals in process flows.

FLANGED RETRACTABLE
A durable design that uses a 250 psi dual-bolt restraint and a guide pipe assembly that helps support the restraint.

With retractable injectors, the injection quill can be put in or taken out while the system is still under pressure. It c Can be used when there is no way to turn off the pressure in the line. The employment of this removable injection quill enhances injection and diffusion and makes it possible to inject corrosive chemicals into a pipeline without hurting the pipe or threaded port at the injection point. When injected into the pipe’s centre stream, the chemicals are spread out more evenly because the pipe’s speed is higher and more turbulent.

In the past, this variety of retractable injector was called a “corporation stop injector.” However, high-quality ball valves have many benefits over the older model that utilizes a corporation stop for the valve that turns the flow off. The ball valve nipple will have a smaller space between the quill and the valve. This will make it less likely for the pipe to rattle when there is turbulence in the flow.

Available in 34″, 1″, 1-1/2″, and 2″ sizes, as well as custom sizes that are larger.

Construction materials for retractable injection quills
Retractable injection quills can be made from a variety of materials, depending on the specific application and the properties of the fluid being injected. Some common materials for injection quills include stainless steel, aluminum, brass, and plastic. The choice of material may be based on factors such as the temperature and pressure of the system, the chemical compatibility of the material with the injected fluid, and the mechanical strength and durability of the quill. In some cases, injection quills may be coated or lined with materials that provide additional chemical resistance or improve the sealing properties of the device.

Retractable injection quills are made from the following materials:

  • Titanium
  • 316L S.S.
  • Hastelloy C-276
  • Kynar
  • Alloy 20
  • CPVC
  • PVC
